Ringbelles Retro: Redhead v Redhead

Christy HemmeChristy Hemme loves wrestling. After winning the WWE Diva Search in 2004, she immersed herself into the business and showed huge enthusiasm for her work. Even if her demeanour behind the curtain is a tenth of what she displays in front of the camera, she must be great to work with.

However, after leaving WWE in 2005 – with the company citing budget cuts but Hemme saying she left on her own terms because “I stuck to my guns on my morals and values as a human being. I knew in my gut that it would be the end, but I also knew that carrying guilt for knowingly doing something against what I believed wasn’t worth getting ahead” – she joined TNA and was afforded opportunities to wrestle elsewhere. One of the places she worked was Queens Of Chaos in France in November 2006.

She joined the likes of Portia Perez, Queen Maya, Jazzy Bi (now Alpha Female) and others for a Princess Of Chaos Tournament. For this week’s Retro, we have her first round contest against fellow American April Hunter. (more…)

Episode 57 with Erin Angel

The Women of Wrestling Podcast returns as we welcome 10 year pro and one of Europe’s finest, Erin Angel, to the show. Erin has just returned from a 22 day tour (no days off) with Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling over in Canada’s Maritime provinces and this weekend will be in one of the major matches at Bellatrix VI on iPPV, where she challenges Rhia O’Reilly for the Bellatrix British Ladies Championship. We talk about both of those things, of course – but given that much of Erin’s career has taken place under the internet radar, we take the chance to dig into her career so far – from starting on the British camp circuit and training on the job, to who is most responsible for training her, right up through to extensive touring with All Star Wrestling and international travel (including an ambulance ride during her first ever booking in France) and right up to date. Erin talks about her experiences in Pro-Wrestling EVE (including getting to wrestle Japanese stars), previews her Bellatrix match, discusses working on over 18s shows like ICW:Fierce Females and lays out her future goals. We even hear how she effectively saves children’s lives during her other job. Truly an Angel. Enjoy!

DVD Review: Queens Of Chaos (13 May 2005)

Before SHIMMER existed, France had its own female promotion, featuring wrestlers from around the world, culminating with the crowning of the first ever World Queens of Chaos Champion.

Results

2. Erin Angel v Jersey went to a no-contest when Kid Kash interfered.
3. Kid Kash & Trinity defeated Sick & Nikita. Trinity pinned Nikita following a moonsault.
4. Sick beat Kid Kash with a magistral cradle.
5. Sumie Sakai defeated Sweet Saraya with a rolling cradle.
6. Nikita won a Rumble to become the World Queens of Chaos Champion.
Order of entry: Nikita, Sakai, Saraya, Angel, Knox, Jersey, Skye, Trinity
Order of elimination: Saraya by Angel; Jersey by Angel; Skye by Knox; Sakai by Knox & Trinity; Knox by Nikita; Angel by Nikita; Trinity by Nikita

Highlights
• Skye scored an upset pin over Rebecca Knox after being beaten on for much of the contest. Well, it’s considered an upset, but by this time, Skye had trained in Atlanta with William Regal, Chris Benoit, Dave Taylor and Bryan Danielson (now WWE‘s Daniel Bryan).
• Kid Kash interfered in the Erin Angel/Jersey match, caused havoc in his own intergender tag team match, and is beaten up by all the women when he tries to interfere in the main event.
• Sumie Sakai and Sweet Saraya signed a contract for their match, which is just an excuse to get some heel heat on Saraya ahead of the contest. The two had a pull-apart fight to close the angle.
• Nikita (now TNA‘s Winter) won the main event Rumble after starting the match with Sakai. Nikita was the only face left in the final four, and eliminated them all singlehandedly to win the title. (more…)
