SHINE 13 Report: A return to form as Rain defeats Angelina, Allysin Kay returns, Nikki Storm debuts and much more. (Now updated with thoughts and pictures)
Tonight at the Orpheum in Ybor City, SHINE Wrestling presents SHINE 13, as we continue the title reign of the Radiant One, Rain – as well as the countdown to her eventual retirement. With only two more SHINE shows to go (October and December) before Rain’s proposed retirement date at the end of 2013, Angelina Love is in prime position to take the title from the woman she’s gone 1-1 with in SHINE so far. If you remember, at SHINE 7, Rain defeated Angelina Love with an Implant DDT, while Angelina returned the favour via a Botox Injection at SHINE 10.
If Valkyrie didn’t have enough to worry about regarding the SHINE Championship, they’re also possibly facing an issue surrounding the returning Allysin Kay. Valkyrie, SHINE and many fans have missed the AK47 since her “suspension” and subsequent tour of Japan – but with her opponent in tonight’s tag team match turning out to be one of her best friends – Jessicka Havok – the question remains, is Kay loyal to Valkyrie or Havok? J-Hav has already posed the question. Tonight we get the answer.
There are also debuts on SHINE 13 for Scotland’s Nikki Storm, who starts an extended US tour (which will take in Fight Season shows for AIW, WSU and SHIMMER Women Athletes), up-and-coming Canadian Xandra Bale and the always entertaining Nevaeh. Check out the entire card after the jump, watch live at WWNLive.com as well as live results as they come in. (more…)
Things are going well for La Rosa Negra. Holding both the Battling Bombshells and Pro Wrestling Syndicate Bombshells Titles, there is a lot of focus on the ten year veteran from Puerto Rico. Last night at the most recent Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling show in Iselin, NJ, she successfully defended the PWS belt against Cheerleader Melissa and Missy Sampson. However, her first defence of the belt was last month at a PWS show in Monroe.
The 31-year old put her title on the line against Angelina Love as part of the promotion’s Dream On card. Click after the jump to watch the contest in its entirety. (more…)
Kacee Carlisle – who is one hell of a great promo, by the way – defends her NWA World Women’s Championship on Friday evening against former Anarchy Championship Wrestling American Joshi Champion Barbi Hayden as part of NWA Houston‘s Shut Up And Wrestle show in Cypress, TX.
More than 200 days into her first run with the title, the 33-year old from Sturgis, SD has been part of the wrestling business for all of her adult life. Debuting as a manager in 1998, she accompanied Shorty Smalls sporadically for the first few years before getting more involved in 2003, and eventually transitioning to becoming a wrestler in 2005. Her first in-ring contest is the match we have for you for today’s Retro.
Looking much different to how she appears in the photo to your right, Carlisle took on SHIMMER Original Krissy Vaine in her first encounter on July 30, 2005 on a show in Olney, VA. Watch it after the jump. (more…)
Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling are back for another iPPV as part of a weekend of action presented by parent company Pro Wrestling Syndicate. Headlining the show is Missy Sampson defending the BLOW Championship which she won at February’s show, though it’s not against originally announced opponent Alexa Thatcher, who was due to make her return at the event after a prolonged absence.
PWS revealed that she had pulled out of the card a couple of weeks ago, and was replaced with Mickie Knuckles, who lost in the first round of Women Superstars Uncensored‘s Queen and King of the Ring earlier today.
Also take place on the card, Amy Lee and Amazing Kong face off again – this time in a First Blood Match – as well as Serena Deeb taking on Shelly Martinez, and Santana Garrett against La Rosa Negra.
You can order the event from highspots.tv – which is $10, or free if you have a subscription to the service – so there’s still time to throw down some money and watch. Alternatively, we’re updating you with results as they happen, so click after the jump and keep hitting refresh… (more…)
Santana Garrett‘s been busy.
As well as creating a good impression in SHINE, the 24-year old Floridian has also been solidifying her status in other promotions in the state, such as I Believe In Wrestling, Ring Warriors, Belleview Pro Wrestling and Future Of Wrestling. In addition, she has travelled outside of the state to thrill others, venturing to SHIMMER last October, and last month went to Las Vegas, NV to team with Amber O’Neal and win the Women Of Wrestling Tag Team Championships. Indeed, Garrett’s star is rising, and it’s hard to not notice her.
With her big hair, big smile, shiny gear and high boots, she’s pretty easy to spot – and has a pretty exciting finisher in the form of a standing moonsault preceded by a handspring off the ropes she calls the Shining Star Press. If a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader ever became a wrestler, it would be Santana Garrett.
After the jump, we have posted a couple of her matches under the Battling Bombshells banner, showing off her work both as a babyface and a heel. The first is from Saturday’s Future Of Wrestling show in Deerfield Beach, FL against newcomer Dynamite Didi Cruz, while the second is a 3-way match for the Battling Bombshells title which was also held at FOW back on August 11 last year, with Garrett and Christina Von Eerie challenging La Rosa Negra for the belt. Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling crowns its first champion today, culminating a tournament which started back in October. There have also been some unexpected twists and turns, with pullouts and substitutions along the way.
The most recent change is in the title match, which is now a triple threat after Sienna DuVall had to pull out due to injury. As a result, the planned semi-finals and finals have been scrapped, with the three remaining contenders – Missy Sampson, Sumie Sakai and Katarina Leigh – all meeting in a 3-way to determine the first champion. Elsewhere, the other marquee match is between Amy Lee and Amazing Kong, in what will likely be a hard-hitting affair.
Last week, we reported that the main selling point for the Bombshells and Jingle Bells show which took place in Hollywood, FL last night was to be the NWA World Women’s Championship match between titleholder Kacee Carlisle and challenger La Rosa Negra. However, while the match still took place, the title which was on the line changed. For whatever reason, the NWA belt would stay with Carlisle, and the La Rosa Negra’s Battling Bombshells title was the one which would be on the line instead.
It wasn’t the only controversy involving the NWA on the show. After the main event, NWA Ring Warriors announced that it was withdrawing from the Alliance and its name would be reverted to simply Ring Warriors, and may partly stem from the decision to change the title match.
Christmas time usually brings around the wrestling shows with puns in their names – Season’s Beatings being the most popular one, though I wonder why nobody ever picks Violent Night – and next Saturday’s show presented by NWA Ring Warriors and its all-female off-shoot Battling Bombshells has one of its own, entitled Bombshells & Jingle Bells. However with hindsight, adding the ‘e’ to Bells would have made it even stronger, but that’s just one writer’s opinion.
Emanating from Hollywood, FL, the promotions are getting into the Christmas spirit by donating 100% of the profits to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, so the organisers are no doubt hoping for a large crowd for the event, which is headlined by an NWA World Women’s Championship rematch.
On November 17, La Rosa Negra challenged Kacee Carlisle for the belt at NWA Coastal‘s event in Bayville, NJ, though was unsuccessful in wresting the gold away. However, the match was deemed a critical success, and La Rosa Negra was granted a second crack at the title at Bombshells and Jingle Bells. Click the jump to see Carlisle offering her thoughts on the match (honestly, it’s a top promo which sells the match really well), as well as footage of some of the other matches announced for the show… (more…)
“SOOO who’s ready for EVEN MORE changes to Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling ? Well heck it wouldn’t be a 24 hour day without some now would it!
“Stay tuned as we’re sure to serve up even more random stuff from the wacky world of Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling in the morning. Perhaps we should start doing contests like Guess The Next Girl To Drop Off ? Gotta love it.
“PS – not one single change to the loaded PWS lineup on Friday.”
That was one of the posts which Pro Wrestling Syndicate posted on its official Facebook page last week ahead of the debut Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling show on Thursday. As it happened, the show managed to fulfil its promise of presenting 8 opening round matches for its Sweet Sixteen tournament, though the lineup was a million miles away from the card which it originally posted. Reports from the show say it was a lot of fun, so it appears the fans went home from the Rahway Recreation Center in New Jersey happy, and by the sounds of the post above, the promoters of PWS breathed a sigh of relief.
