We’re back for a second day of DVD tapings for SHIMMER, with questions being raised about LuFisto‘s current intentions. After being denied another chance at the SHIMMER title in the near future while Cheerleader Melissa still holds the belt, she came out to try to help Yumi Ohka win the strap in the main event of volume 64, but was rebuffed for her actions. The pair came to blows after Melissa retained the championship, leading to LuFisto and Ohka meeting as part of the volume 65 card today.
Elsewhere, Melissa defends the title against Mia Yim following Yim’s wins over Hikaru Shida and Mercedes Martinez, while Shida and Martinez will face off in a first-time ever match. Following her walking out of their tag team match yesterday, Veda Scott will wrestle Leva Bates in a rematch from volume 62, but with more hostile feelings abound.
Meanwhile in tag team action, Kimber Lee and Cherry Bomb square off against Ray and Leon, while Kellie Skater and Tomoka Nakagawa defend the Tag Team Championship against Saraya Knight and Rhia O’Reilly.
The bumper weekend of DVD tapings that is SHIMMER is upon us with more than 30 of the world’s top female talent descending on the Eagles Club in Berwyn, IL for what will be around 40 matches over the next two days.
Following the controversial ending of SHIMMER 62 last week in New Orleans, LA, LuFisto will team up with tag partner Kana to take on Mercedes Martinez and SHIMMER Champion Cheerleader Melissa, looking to get some revenge following her loss in her title challenge, and to possibly secure another crack at the championship at some point over the weekend.
Elsewhere, we may see friction within the Canadian Ninjas following Nicole Matthews‘ decision to team with Madison Eagles to unsuccessfully challenge the Global Green Gangsters for the Tag Team Championship last week – a move which raised the hackles of Portia Perez, who tweeted her displeasure at the development.
You can read more about what we could see over the next four DVD tapings by looking at this week’s Roundup, but we will also be bringing you live results courtesy of the Twitters of Reid Allen and Dave Muscarella, who we thank for their constant great work in getting the word out to the rest of us – and Stew will be back after the tapings for some in-depth thoughts. Click the jump to see the results – and keep hitting refresh to make sure you’re up to date. (more…)
We’re fans of Thunderkitty here at Ringbelles, so it’s a real treat to finally get the chance to speak with her on a range of topics – the most pressing one being her return to Absolute Intense Wrestling on March 29 for her Girls Night Out 11 match against Marti Belle, which can be seen as a second chance to make a first impression. We discuss her GNO7 match during this 25 minute chat, along with her happiness at returning after a year and a half away.
We also cover the women’s wrestling scene in the Midwest with the likes of RESISTANCE and IWA Mid-South, and what she has coming up over the next month or so.
In addition, there is talk on the inspirations behind the Thunderkitty gimmick, whether it has cost her opportunities in the past, being a cult star, having a mere sleeper hold as a finisher and how she is very careful to not be seen as a novelty act. It’s an interesting chat and is certainly worth a listen.

There must be something in the water in North Carolina. Much like fellow Carolinian Chasity Taylor, D’Arcy Dixon has an infectious passion for pro wrestling that you can’t help but admire. She got in touch with us for some interview time for My Name Is, and we were keen to chat with the current RESISTANCE Pro Women’s Champion.
In this near half-hour chat, D’Arcy talks about how she is still relatively new to the business but has already achieved one of her wrestling goals, whether she feels she is ready to be a champion, and her relatively glamorous introduction to the wrestling industry. She also talks about her upcoming title defence against Thunderkitty on January 17, why that belt is so darned big, separating her time between Illinois and the Carolinas, and running a marathon on a whim – and that’s a story you want to hear.
The second day of tapings for SHIMMER Women Athletes is underway, with a big SHIMMER Championship match announced, as well as a return match which could feature some very brutal consequences.
Headlining Volume 60 will be Cheerleader Melissa defending the SHIMMER Title against LuFisto, after the Super Hardcore Anime came to the aid of Leva Bates and Allison Danger on Volume 58, as well as Hiroyo Matsumoto on Volume 59 (you can see all the results here). It should be an emotionally charged contest between the increasingly-viscious Melissa (who is riding high after also coming top of the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Female 50 yesterday) and the never-say-die challenger.
Also announced yesterday is a rematch from Volume 59, where Nicole Matthews and Hikaru Shida will face off in a contest where Shida’s kendo stick will be legal. The bamboo weapon was instrumental in Matthews’ win yesterday, using it out of the sight of the referee – but today, it’s in play, and both women could be battered and bruised by the end.
Elsewhere, the Global Green Gangsters put the SHIMMER Tag Team Championship on the line against Sassy Stephie & Nevaeh, Matsumoto takes on kleptomaniac Portia Perez, Heidi Lovelace wrestles Nikki Storm, Santana Garrett faces Mercedes Martinez, and Allysin Kay battles Kana.
It’s SHIMMER Time! Yes, once again The Eagles Club in Berwyn, IL is the home for some of the best female wrestling in the world, as SHIMMER Women Athletes presents the DVD tapings for Vols 58-61 across two days. Today features Vols 58 & 59, and Ringbelles will have you covered with both live results as they happen and eventually also full analysis of the day’s events. Japan’s Hikaru Shida debuts today, as does Europe’s Nikki Storm – and Shida features in the (as yet) only announced match for the tapings, taking on Mia Yim in what should be a pretty great showcase for both. Join us after the cut for running results, thanks to Reid Allen, who is in attendance – as is Stew, but international data roaming costs are sky high… (more…)
We at Ringbelles became big fans of Thunderkitty at the last SHIMMER tapings back in April, especially during her victory over Sassy Stephie on volume 57, where she got the win with a sleeperhold.
The great thing about her style – which would be considered modern in her mentally-defined era of the 1950′s – is that her fundamentals mean her matches can stick to the KISS principle of Keep It Simple, Stupid. In addition, how can you dislike anyone who has “Ladies champion of lady midget-tossing in Ohio at 11 feet and 3 inches” and “Rumored to win a battle royal against 15 grizzly bears in the old territory days” as other notable accomplishments on her own website?
We’ve got a couple of Thunderkitty matches for you – her SPARKLE match from last October where she wrestled Montreal’s Angie Skye, and a contest from Millennium Pro Wrestling in 2011 against NY Knockout Nikki. (more…)
It’s the first Girl Fight Wrestling show this evening in Charlestown, IN, and it’s jumping into the water with both feet, broadcasting live on iPPV (which you can order for $10 by clicking here). Headlining the show is arguably Crazy Mary Dobson‘s toughest contest to date – and when you consider she’s fought in deathmatches, that’s saying something. She’s taking on former WWE Women’s Champion Jazz in a match with pits youth and fearlessness against experience and wisdom.
Elsewhere on the card, Leva Bates squares off against Jessicka Havok; Lil’ Naughty tangles with Nevaeh; Thunderkitty takes on Miss Natural; and in a real coup, 33 year veteran Candi Devine makes a rare appearance against the debuting Miss Dark Shadow, who is the daughter of Lady Vendetta and Mad Man Pondo. In a strange coincidence, Vendetta also had her first match against Devine, so the legend gets to break in two generations of female grapplers.
You can order the show and watch live by clicking the link above (bell time 7.30pm EST), or by checking out the results after the jump. (more…)
After the events of yesterday, SHIMMER returns for its DVD tapings for volumes 56 and 57.
Expected to continue on from yesterday’s tapings include the quest by the Global Green Gangsters to secure another Tag Team Title shot at the Canadian Ninjas; Saraya Knight‘s reign of terror is being curbed by the officials; meanwhile, Jessicka Havok wants to leave more bodies in her wake, and Cheerleader Melissa is looking to retain the SHIMMER Championship. Also, these tapings mark the final matches for Allison Danger, who retires from the ring on volume 57.
As with yesterday, we will bring you results after the jump, along with pictures on thoughts on the show in due course. For now, click into the results and enjoy. (more…)
It’s the kickoff to SHIMMER’s Vols 54-57 tapings in Berwyn, IL at the Eagles Club with Vols 54 & 55 being recorded today. We’ve got a big preview of the Vol 54 taping up already, and we’ll be updating this page with results after the conclusion of both of today’s volumes. As noted in the preview, we’ll be back with thoughts and pictures from the event at some point thereafter. Enjoy!
