Bellatrix 6 card – plenty of first-time matches

Bellatrix 6 Liberty Shanna

Until today, the only match which we knew was going to be taking place at Bellatrix 6 on June 23 was Rhia O’Reilly defending the British Championship against Erin Angel – a match which is likely to deliver, especially since they have tangled twice in the past month with each claiming a victory over the other. However, the promotion has now revealed what its big roster featuring a lot of debuting women will be up to on the show, and there are quite a few first-time encounters on the card… (more…)

Bellatrix 6 roster revealed, many new additions

Bellatrix 6 rosterIt’s been a pretty Euro-centric sort of week here at Ringbelles, so we may as well continue in that ethos…

The roster for the Bellatrix 6 iPPV on June 23 has been revealed, with a lot of new names featuring in the lineup. Nine European nations are represented on the show, with women from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Norway, Finland, France, Italy, Germany and Portgual being represented. Representing England are regulars Saraya Knight, rising star Penelope, RQW European Women’s Champion Liberty, rookie Chanel, Destiny, Skarlett, Erin Angel and Violet O’Hara. Other roster members returning are Italian Queen Maya, Northern Ireland’s Rhia O’Reilly and Norway’s Miss Mina, as well as Finn Aurora Flame and France’s X-Cute Sweet, who have both been absent since Bellatrix 2 11 months ago.

There is also an influx of Scottish talent heading to Norwich. Nikki Storm, Carmel Jacob, Bete Noire and Kay Lee Ray all make their debuts, while Viper makes her first appearance in the promotion since teaming with Destiny at WAWW The Return in November 2011. Rounding off the roster are Germany’s Alpha Female and Portugal’s Perfect Athlete Shanna making their first Bellatrix appearances, making it a roster of 20 women participating. (more…)

In Video: Scuffles in Scandinavia – Mina v Penelope

Miss Mina PenelopeThe European women’s wrestling scene is growing all the time, with grapplers from all over the continent improving their skills and characters at a startling pace – so much so that more and more wrestlers like Australia’s Storm, and Canada native Leah Von Dutch are making extended trips to the continent to face new opponents and acquire new skills.

Two Europeans who are also expanding their portfolios are Penelope and Miss Mina, whose careers seem to be intertwining. The pair had a good match at Bellatrix 4 last November, and on the strength of that match, the British flier was booked to wrestle in the Norwegian Wrestling Federation last month, again against Mina, but with a slight difference – that being that the normally happy and smiley babyface Penelope was a moody, greasy heel. How did she fare against her opponent, who was on home turf this time and enjoying the full fan support from the audience in Oslo? Click the jump to find out…

Bellatrix 5 results – Saraya Knight retains the SHIMMER Title; Liberty wins the RQW European belt

Saraya Knight Bellatrix 5It’s been building up to this day for months, and coupled with a heavy bout of promotion both locally and online, Bellatrix Female Warriors launches its first show since officially changing the name from the World Association of Women’s Wrestling at the start of the year. Bellatrix 5 is also the promotion’s first iPPV (which you can order by clicking here), headlined by the first SHIMMER Title match on British soil.

Saraya Knight defends the championship against Queen of the Ring Destiny, while the undercard was given an extra sweetener in recent days with the announcement that Liberty‘s match against Queen Maya will now be for Maya’s RQW European Women’s Championship.

In Video: Build up to Bellatrix 5

Liberty Queen Maya Bellatrix

Yesterday, six matches were announced for March 24th’s Bellatrix 5 show in Norwich, England – the first show since the name changeover from the World Association of Women’s Wrestling to Bellatrix, something which was explained by Destiny in our interview with her at the end of last year.

The biggest match announced so far is a return contest from last November’s Bellatrix 4 with RQW European Women’s Champion Queen Maya taking on Liberty in an encounter that was cut short because of a broken arm suffered by the tall Italian. This contest is billed as non-title, but a victory by Liberty could propel her to a title shot in the future.

However, the revelations continue – as well as the aforementioned rematch, Bellatrix 5 features debuts and returns – such as Amy Lee making her first appearance in a Bellatrix event since the original one last March where she face Miss Mina, who is now fully recovered from the ankle injury she suffered last November. Speaking of returns, the creepy Phobia – who hasn’t been about since Bellatrix 2 – will be seen again on March 24, standing across the ring from rookie Chanel, who is going in the right direction in terms of progression.

So that’s the returns taken care of – how about the debuts? (more…)

Ringbelles Roundup (13 November 2012) – EVE’s iPPV, WAWW free show, Amazing Kong & more

In a move that nobody anticipated, Emi Sakura left Pro Wrestling: EVE’s second iPPV as the promotion’s Champion, after successfully defending her JWP Openweight Title earlier in the night, then challenging new EVE titleholder Nikki Storm in an impromptu match which saw the founder of Gatoh Move hit a quick 450 splash for the pin.

Now, I get the reasoning for putting the belt on Sakura. On an immediate level, it offers a happy ending for the show, and the visual of the JWP and EVE titles together is pretty striking. Longer term, it means that the belt is now associated with the oldest active women’s title in Japan, and considering how good Sakura is at garnering publicity, there is a lot of opportunity for joshi fans to find out about Pro Wrestling: EVE because people will inevitably ask about this other belt that she’s holding. In turn, it could lead to more international recognition and possibly more DVD sales and iPPV buys from Japan in the future.

However, the circumstances in which she won the title seems to be a big sticking point among some fans who both attended the show and watched online. (more…)

WAWW Bellatrix 4 results (updated with thoughts and photo gallery)

This bumper season of women’s wrestling continues in Norwich, England this evening with the free show presented by the World Association of Women’s Wrestling, entitled Bellatrix 4.

We revealed some of the matches in our post yesterday, where it was announced that the evening would see a team captained by WAWW British Champion Rhia O’Reilly against a squad led by RQW European Women’s Champion Queen Maya, with the whole event being capped off with a ten woman elimination match.

Already announced to be taking place are Maya v Liberty in a match where the European Title is not on the line, while O’Reilly also faces a non-title affair against high-flying star Erin Angel. Lineup revealed for free WAWW Bellatrix 4 show

It’s not often that you can check out a women’s wrestling show for the price of zero, but that is what is taking place in Norwich, England tomorrow for the World Association Of Women’s Wrestling‘s Bellatrix 4 event. It is an opportunity for fans to check out the WAWW product, its wrestlers – many of whom are home-grown – and the promotion’s new setup, which is a purpose-built TV studio.

The whole show is to be conducted in a Survivor Series-esque format, with two teams captained by RQW European Women’s Champion Queen Maya and WAWW British Ladies Champion Rhia O’Reilly facing off in singles matches, with points being awarded for victories, and a 10-woman tag team match also booked to take place.

Three of the singles encounters have been announced by WAWW, with Maya taking on Liberty in a non-title match; O’Reilly facing Erin Angel in another bout which is non-title, and Penelope wrestling Miss Mina. (more…)

WAWW Bellatrix 3 results

The World Association of Women’s Wrestling returns this evening at a brand new venue – the Epic Studios in Norwich, England; a purpose-built TV facility with studio lights and sound. It plays host to Bellatrix 3, with the main focus on the card being a tournament to crown the WAWW Queen of the Ring with names such as promising rookie Penelope, Norway’s Miss Mina, SHIMMER Champion Sweet Saraya, former WAWW British Champion Destiny, and the tiny-yet-scrappy Violet O’Hara among those vying for the crown. Also featured on the card include Norwegian Jewel Jensen, EWW Women’s Champion Skarlett and Germany’s Lady Lory.

Also taking place is the a WAWW British Championship defence with titleholder Liberty – who won the belt at The Return last November from Britani Knight – now Paige – then successfully defended it against Amy Lee at the original Bellatrix in February and then beat Saraya at Bellatrix 2 in June – putting the belt on the line against Rhia O’Reilly, who has enjoyed a lot of international experience over the course of 2012.

Another factor to consider is whether Jetta‘s decision to try and create some friction in the WAWW dressing room at the end of Bellatrix 2 by planting doubt in the heads of the wrestlers over the vision of founder Saraya and whether she is the right person to be at the helm will come into play.

WAWW Bellatrix 2 results (now updated with thoughts and photos)

A bumper weekend of women’s wrestling continues in Costessey, England this afternoon, as the World Association of Women’s Wrestling presents Bellatrix 2, featuring grapplers from across Europe.

As discussed last week when the card was announced, topping the bill will be the Italian giant and reigning RQW European Champion Queen Maya defending the belt against former Nordic Women’s Wrestling Alliance Champion Aurora Flame from Finland. Maya has held the title since last November, and faces a stiff challenge from Flame, who has been wrestling for close to 5 years.

Elsewhere on the card, reigning SHIMMER Champion Sweet Saraya challenges British Champion Liberty for the title, Ireland’s Rhia O’Reilly takes on Norway’s Miss Mina and Germany’s Lady Lory meets British star Skarlett. Queen Maya vs Aurora Flame headlines WAWW Bellatrix 2; Liberty vs Saraya Knight also announced

We’ve just received word of the first matches to be confirmed for the World Association of Women’s Wrestling show on Sunday, June 17th. Entitled “Bellatrix 2″, the event will be headlined by a match for the RQW European Title as Queen Maya defends her title against Finland’s Aurora Flame, who comes to us from the FCF promotion. Queen Maya has been really establishing herself as a dominant force across the rings of Europe since picking up the RQW belt at WAWW’s “The Return”, and this will be a stern test against the well travelled and experienced Aurora Flame.

Also in title action, the WAWW British Ladies Championship match will be up for grabs as title holder Liberty defends against none other than Saraya Knight, the current SHIMMER Champion. At the age of 18, but already with over two years of experience, Liberty has become the one to watch in the rings of WAWW. From winning the British Ladies Championship at “The Return” last November from the departing Britani Knight (thanks, it must be said, to a helping hand… err.. fist from Allison Danger) to successfully defending the title against her former tag team partner Amy-Lee at the first Bellatrix show in March, a case could certainly be made that Liberty has had match of the night honours on both WAWW shows so far. Liberty has followed almost the exact same career trajectory as the former Britani Knight (now Paige in FCW) by tagging early in her career with her best friend (for Knight it was fellow Norfolk Doll Melodi, and with Liberty it was with Amy-Lee), excelling as a singles wrestler, abandoning the fans and winning the British Championship. In fact, if anything, Liberty has reached the championship heights even faster than Britani did – but there is absolutely no doubt that this match represents Liberty’s biggest challenge to date. WAWW: The Return results, review & photos

It has been four months in the making, but after an absence of more than two years, the World Association of Women’s Wrestling is back.

Appropriately entitled The Return, WAWW’s latest card is headlined with another return – this time of Allison Danger back to the UK after her initial tour of the country in early 2007. As part of her whistlestop tour of the country, Danger arrived yesterday morning, then wrestled in the evening and Herts and Essex Wrestling against Sweet Saraya Knight where she was defeated for the HEW Women’s Title in what was a precursor to tonight’s event, where she faces Saraya again, before making her final appearance of the weekend tomorrow evening at a World Association of Wrestling show before flying back to the US on Monday morning.

Three of the women on tonight’s card – Saraya, daughter Britani and Lucy Clayden – featured on the last pure WAWW card back in May 2008 – the most recent WAWW show before tonight was held in conjunction with WAW in March 2009 – so expect to see a number of debuts from newer talent from Britain and Europe, as well as the regulars of WAW.
