SHIMMER volumes 65-66 live results

shimmer logo

We’re back for a second day of DVD tapings for SHIMMER, with questions being raised about LuFisto‘s current intentions. After being denied another chance at the SHIMMER title in the near future while Cheerleader Melissa still holds the belt, she came out to try to help Yumi Ohka win the strap in the main event of volume 64, but was rebuffed for her actions. The pair came to blows after Melissa retained the championship, leading to LuFisto and Ohka meeting as part of the volume 65 card today.

Elsewhere, Melissa defends the title against Mia Yim following Yim’s wins over Hikaru Shida and Mercedes Martinez, while Shida and Martinez will face off in a first-time ever match. Following her walking out of their tag team match yesterday, Veda Scott will wrestle Leva Bates in a rematch from volume 62, but with more hostile feelings abound.

Meanwhile in tag team action, Kimber Lee and Cherry Bomb square off against Ray and Leon, while Kellie Skater and Tomoka Nakagawa defend the Tag Team Championship against Saraya Knight and Rhia O’Reilly.

As with yesterday, we will have ongoing results after the jump courtesy of the Twitters of Reid Allen and Dave Muscarella, so keep refreshing to get the updates as they happen. (more…)

SHIMMER volumes 63-64 live results

SHIMMER neon logo

The bumper weekend of DVD tapings that is SHIMMER is upon us with more than 30 of the world’s top female talent descending on the Eagles Club in Berwyn, IL for what will be around 40 matches over the next two days.

Following the controversial ending of SHIMMER 62 last week in New Orleans, LA, LuFisto will team up with tag partner Kana to take on Mercedes Martinez and SHIMMER Champion Cheerleader Melissa, looking to get some revenge following her loss in her title challenge, and to possibly secure another crack at the championship at some point over the weekend.

Elsewhere, we may see friction within the Canadian Ninjas following Nicole Matthews‘ decision to team with Madison Eagles to unsuccessfully challenge the Global Green Gangsters for the Tag Team Championship last week – a move which raised the hackles of Portia Perez, who tweeted her displeasure at the development.

You can read more about what we could see over the next four DVD tapings by looking at this week’s Roundup, but we will also be bringing you live results courtesy of the Twitters of Reid Allen and Dave Muscarella, who we thank for their constant great work in getting the word out to the rest of us – and Stew will be back after the tapings for some in-depth thoughts. Absolute Intense Wrestling Girls Night Out 11 & 12 live results – Athena Wins AIW Women’s Championship

Athena AIW Champion by Dave MuscarellaSpring’s Female Fight Season kicks off in Cleveland, OH today with Absolute Intense Wrestling‘s Girls Night Out 11 & 12 tapings. The first show is headlined with a match which should clear up the controversy over the Women’s Championship, as Allysin Kay and Leah Von Dutch square off.

Von Dutch claims that she is the rightful titleholder after beating Kay in controversial circumstances back in February, with an announcement made that the pair will square off at GNO11. Since then, a ruling has been made that Kay is still the reigning Women’s Champion and Von Dutch’s title win did not happen. However, Leah is undefeated in AIW action and holds a win in some fashion over the titleholder, though Allysin will be taking on her adversary without being fatigued from an earlier match – so this is certainly an intriguing contest.

Elsewhere, Kay Lee Ray makes her US debut taking on Mickie Knuckles, Thunderkitty returns to the promotion after a year and a half with a match against Marti Belle – and she discussed her comeback here – and Annie Social & Heidi Lovelace will challenge the Jollyville Fuck-Its for the Tag Team Championship. Unfortunately, Shanna will not be part of the tapings after having to pull out for personal reasons – she was meant to face Veda Scott and Hania in singles matches.

We’ll have results as they happen courtesy of Dave Muscarella in attendance, so click the jump and keep hitting refresh for the latest. (more…)

Guest Column: An Alternate Take on WSU’s Mutiny

Havok as WSU ChampEditor’s note: While we don’t usually do this kind of thing, when we received this well written and argued review of this past weekend’s WSU Mutiny show in our inbox from a fan in attendance who said he had trouble using the comment section on our original live coverage, we thought it was worth a column all of its own. Coincidentally, if you’ve got an interest in contributing to the site going forward, we have an idea in mind… keep an eye on the site in the week ahead. Without further ado, our thanks to reader Eric Gall for submitting this alternate take…

I was there live and haven’t seen the show on VOD yet, so here’s my thoughts seeing it live, with a few days to let it sink in…

This was my first weekend of WSU, having gone to Voorhees before, (and before that to Deer Park and Boonton), but I decided to take in Secret Show #3 as well as Mutiny. I thought Friday night’s show was every bit as good as Full Steam Ahead back in October last year. There wasn’t a bad match, and the intimate atmosphere elevated everything.

Something happened between Friday’s show and Saturday, though. While I’m seeing that many people feel that Mutiny was a great show, possibly the best WSU’s put on, I enjoyed this one the least out of any of the new regime’s run of the company, starting in October of ’12. (more…)

WSU Mutiny iPPV – Jessicka Havok vs Alpha Female for the WSU Championship! Last minute changes!

Alpha Female Jessicka Havok WSUAfter last night’s Secret Show #3, where Jessicka Havok successfully retained her WSU World Championship against Shanna, the force of nature known as J-Hav goes one-on-one with the monstrous Alpha Female, who defeated two women in a row last night – and although it was never advertised as such during the build-up to the show, the match has now been confirmed as being for Havok’s WSU World Championship.

Although WSU has already tweeted today that there would be other “changes” to the announced show, we’re hopefully still expecting to see Athena vs LuFisto for the #1 contendership for the WSU Championship, but it seems that injuries to both Veda Scott & Allysin Kay means that their planned matches with Jenny Rose and the Midwest Militia Tag Team Title defence of Allysin Kay & Sassy Stephie against C.U.N.T. (Kimber Lee & Annie Social) respectively appear off the book.

You can still order the live worldwide iPPV via CZWiPPV.com, but otherwise join us after the cut for live results as they come in. (more…)

Review: AIW Girls Night Out 9 (October 6, 2013)

Leah Von Dutch GNO Ichiban DrunkAs Bellatrix was kicking off the recent Fight Season in the UK, Absolute Intense Wrestling in Cleveland, OH were getting the ball rolling Stateside with a SHIMMER-esque double taping at Turner’s Hall under their “Girl’s Night Out” banner. Built around the rivalry between AIW mainstays – longtime Absolute Women’s Champion Allysin Kay and her #1 Contender Veda Scott (they headlined both this and the evening Girls Night Out 10 event), AIW also welcomed first time guests in the form of Scotland’s Nikki Storm, Portugal’s Perfect Athlete Shanna, Australia’s Savannah Summers, a handful of Ontario-based Canadians and offered an AIW debut to Santana Garrett – giving AIW its strongest women’s division show yet (on paper, at least). Kudos to Smart Mark Video for turning around production so quickly on both shows, making them available for download approximately a fortnight after the show happened. We’re reviewing the mp4 digital download version of the show here, but you can pick up the show either as a digital download, a streaming VOD or on physical media all via the SMV store.

Results
1. Annie Social (w/ Sammy Geodollno & Heidi Lovelace) pinned Jewells Malone with a Stunner.
2. Santana Garrett beat Jenny Rose via submission.
3. Leva Bates & Xandra Bale beat Jody D’Milo & Jasmin when Bates pinned D’Milo following a Superhero Kick.
– Post match, The Social Network of Annie Social, Heidi Lovelace & Sammy Geodollno attacked Bates & Bale.
4. Three Way Match: Angel Dust won over Melanie Cruise & Heidi Lovelace when she pinned Cruise with a schoolgirl roll-up.
5. Leah Von Dutch pinned Mickie Knuckles after The Duke knocked out Knuckles with a punch.
6. Savannah Summers pinned Sassy Stephie with a roll-up counter to the Kiss My Sass.
7. Taeler Hendrix pinned Marti Belle.
8. Kimber Lee made Nikki Storm submit to a cross armbreaker.
9. Dream Partners Tag Match: Allysin Kay & Mia Yim beat Veda Scott & Shanna when Yim pinned Shanna after Kay had chased Scott to the back.

WSU “Blood and Thunder” iPPV results – Havok defends against Lexxus, Saraya Knight debuts

Saraya chokes MickieIt’s a big day for Women Superstars Uncensored today, as they put on an iPPV from their usual home base of the Flyers Skate Zone in Vorhees, NJ. It’s an important show as not only does it feature a WSU World Title defence over a year in the making, the full WSU debuts of international talents like Nikki Storm and Saraya Knight (the latter of whom takes on Mickie Knuckles in a No Disqualification match), but will also apparently feature an announcement of a new owner taking a stake in WSU – a new owner who will help secure the future of the company and open up more international doors.

In addition, we also have what might well be the sleeper match of the night as Allysin Kay takes on Kimber Lee, and more from the new generation of WSU talent like Santana Garrett, Barbi Hayden, Jewells Malone and more. You can still order the show (which includes 14 days of VOD access) at CZWiPPV.com, or join us after the cut for results as they come in. (more…)

WSU Blood And Thunder – what’s whetting our appetite?

WSU Saraya Knight Mickie KnucklesThis Saturday sees a Women Superstars Uncensored Championship match which is a year in the making. Ever since October 13 last year, Lexxus has been claiming that she is the uncrowned champion after losing a 3-way title match at Full Steam Ahead where Jessicka Havok beat she and Alicia, though it was the latter challenger who took the fall. Claiming she was never beaten, she ran her mouth claiming she deserved another crack at the title. In two days at Blood and Thunder in Voorhees, NJ, the former WSU Tag Team Champion gets her opportunity to put up or shut up after beating Nevaeh at August’s Uncensored Rumble VI show to become the top contender.

As for Havok, it’s her first title defence since February’s An Ultraviolent Affair event where she defeated Athena to retain the championship. Since then, she has defeated Sami Callihan (who substituted for an injured LuFisto) at Queen and King of the Ring in May and missed the Uncensored Rumble due to travel issues.

Considering Lexxus’ big talking and the amount of time since Havok’s last defence, we’re expecting the main event to be an entertaining outing, and it’s one of the big matches we’re looking forward to at Blood and Thunder. Let’s take a look at the others… (more…)

Who climbed the ladder to the Women’s Championship at OVW Ladies’ Night? – now with video

Hannah Holly Blossom Taeler Hendrix Lei'D Tapa OVW

The women were out in force for an historic night for Ohio Valley Wrestling, where the a new Women’s Champion was crowned as part of a four-way Ladder Match between Lei’D Tapa, Taeler Hendrix and Hannah & Holly Blossombrought about because of an injury to former champion Trina Thompson. As well as the four-way being the main event of this week’s episode, a number of non-OVW female wrestlers showed up for dark matches, including Santana Garrett, Candice LeRae and Marti Belle – and TNA‘s Christy Hemme was the ring announcer for the Ladder Match to give the occasion even more gravity.

Ringbelles Roundup (21 May 2013) – Heidi Lovelace & Taeler Hendrix, Wrestlicious return and more

Taeler Hendrix Heidi Lovelace Pamela BarnettThis week’s top piece is about a storyline which is ongoing, so I may be jumping the gun with my feelings on the matter, but I feel that more eyes should be directed towards what is happening, as it has the potential to do something really positive.

On Ohio Valley Wrestling TV between January and the end of April, Taeler Hendrix had been receiving gifts from a secret admirer. Considering the flirting which had taken place between the pair previously, the former Women’s Champion believed that the presents were coming from Ryan Howe, who had captured her attention since her OVW debut, much to the disappointment, anger and frustration of her put-upon boyfriend Dylan Bostic – who was not as cool, edgy or exiting as the long-haired newcomer sporting an electric guitar.

Things escalated to the point that on March 23, Hendrix and Bostic took on Howe and fellow former Women’s Champion Heidi Lovelace which ended in a no-contest when the men’s fighting got out of control. The following week, Hendrix came to ringside during Howe’s TV Title match against Rockstar Spud, which prompted both Bostic and Lovelace to come out, causing Ryan to be counted out of the ring. On the April 27 episode, Howe insisted that it was not he who was sending Taeler the gifts, leading a confused (and somewhat hurt) Hendrix to wonder who was showering her with these presents.

As it turns out, it was Heidi Lovelace, who came out to reveal the truth before leaving the ring. (more…)

WSU iPPV results – Athena & AR Fox crowned Queen & King of the Ring; Havok/Callihan have wild brawl

18 Athena WSUIt’s an intergender kind of day at Women Superstars Uncensored today, who run their annual intergender tag team tournament (renamed this year to Queen and King of the Ring rather than the other way around) alongside Combat Zone Wrestling as part of a double header – and after eschewing iPPV for the first couple of shows under the new management, this is the first new era WSU show available live worldwide, through RFVideo.

On top of the eight team tournament, we have non tourney action featuring members of the Midwest Militia – both in non-title action – with Tag Champs Allysin Kay & Sassy Stephie facing Spirit Champion Marti Belle and Lexxus, and reigning WSU World Champion Jessicka Havok taking on “The Callihan Death Machine” Sami Callihan. Havok was apparently given carte blanche to pick her opponent for the match, following the withdrawal of LuFisto – who is currently out with injury. If you haven’t had a chance to listen, LuFisto addresses her current situation exclusively with us on the Women of Wrestling Podcast, and issued a promo directed at Jessicka Havok this week, which you can view on YouTube. You can still order the show at CZWIPPV.com, but we’ll have live results after the cut. (more…)

Jessicka Havok booked in intergender match at WSU Queen & King of the Ring iPPV

Jessicka Havok Sami CallihanWomen Superstars Uncensored was presented with a problem in its preparation for May 11′s Queen and King of the Ring iPPV. Its title match between WSU Champion Jessicka Havok and LuFisto – which came about after Havok defeated Athena and LuFisto beat Mercedes Martinez at An Ultraviolent Affair on February 9 – had to be scrapped due to the Super Hardcore Anime requiring surgery for a fractured kneecap, suffered during the SHIMMER Volume 53 iPPV on April 6.

With most of the roster tied up in the mixed tag team tournament, the promotion decided to get creative with an opponent for Havok, so WSU released a video with the titleholder throwing down a challenge based on what happened at the Combat Zone Wrestling show on the evening following An Ultraviolent Affair, and she wanted to take on LuFisto’s opponent in the mixed tag team match which took place.

Havok and Sami Callihan had an exchange or two in the match, and that wasn’t forgotten by the WSU Champion. In the video released last week, Havok lamented WSU for not finding her a challenger, then got proactive by calling out CZW’s Best of the Best XI tournament winner, though it would be six days of tentative waiting before the challenge was accepted, meaning that next Saturday in Voorhees, NJ, Jessicka Havok will take on Sami Callihan in a non-title, interpromotional, intergender affair. SHIMMER Volumes 56 & 57 DVD taping results (now updated with thoughts and photos)

SHIMMER

After the events of yesterday, SHIMMER returns for its DVD tapings for volumes 56 and 57.

Expected to continue on from yesterday’s tapings include the quest by the Global Green Gangsters to secure another Tag Team Title shot at the Canadian Ninjas; Saraya Knight‘s reign of terror is being curbed by the officials; meanwhile, Jessicka Havok wants to leave more bodies in her wake, and Cheerleader Melissa is looking to retain the SHIMMER Championship. Also, these tapings mark the final matches for Allison Danger, who retires from the ring on volume 57.

As with yesterday, we will bring you results after the jump, along with pictures on thoughts on the show in due course. For now, click into the results and enjoy. (more…)

DVD Review: WSU An Ultraviolent Affair (9 February 2013)

WSU “An Ultraviolent Affair” results – now updated with thoughts

155917_421794477894502_243783641_nWomen Superstars Uncensored returns today with their first show since October’s “Full Steam Ahead” with their debut in a new area, as part of a CZW double header in Voorhees, NJ. Unfortunately, due to the major snowstorms in the North East, the show appears to have been decimated due to talent being unable to get to the venue, resulting in a hastily re-jigged show. Weather related issues have stopped the WSU Tag Team Champions Allysin Kay & Sassy Stephie making the show, along with Marti Belle, Tina San Antonio, Lexxus & Nikki Addams. It’s not the first time a WSU card has been weather-afflicted, as last year’s joint show with PWS in New Jersey was also heavily affected.

However, the show must go on – and with the main event of Jessicka Havok defending her WSU Title against Athena still intact, as well as the potentially show-stealing semi main of Mercedes Martinez vs LuFisto in a Falls Count Anywhere match, there’s still a lot of potential in this show. Click through after the page break for coverage. (more…)

Ringbelles Roundup (5 February 2013) – Shanna v Emi Sakura, Rachel Summerlyn and more

Emi SakuraOn Sunday, I sat among 400 people in a hall in a small city in the west of England. The only reason why I had decided to go – well, apart from it being a 15 minute walk from my front door – was that it featured a women’s match that was pretty hyped up about. Unfortunately, the billed contest between Kay Lee Ray and Shanna had to be scrapped because of KLR suffering a broken toe two days previous, then wrestling for about 40 minutes on it the previous day – though as it turns out, her metatarsal had been broken for about a month, which was compounded by the broken toe. As a result, a suitable replacement was brought in to replace Ray, and it would more than compensate.

The fans at Alternative Wrestling World in Wolverhampton had no idea who Emi Sakura was. To them, she was a Japanese woman who wears a lot of fabric, doesn’t show much skin and visually, didn’t look like much to write home about. Around me, I heard some borderline racist jokes about the “Chinese” woman in the ring and some unfunny gags about ordering Chinese cuisine in a mocking Far Asian accent. Her opponent also got the heckles, with a guy yelling “get your tits out” to Portugal’s Perfect Athlete – as if that line has EVER worked. Needless to say, we were dealing with an audience with spectacularly low expectations for the contest, and more than their fair share of xenophobia and ignorance. I’m stunned that I didn’t see anyone get up to go to the bar or toilets. They would have regretted it if they had, as little did they know, but they were going to be treated to a showcase featuring one of Europe’s best against one of the best in the world… (more…)

In Video: Fights at Florida Underground Wrestling

Amazing Kong at FUWThe day after SHINE 5 entered the history books back in November, a number of the roster stayed on in Florida to be part of a card for Florida Underground Wrestling as part of a new working relationship between the two promotions. It meant that around half of the card featured women’s matches, headlined with Made In Sin (Allysin Kay and Taylor Made) meeting Rhythm and Bruise (Jazz and Amazing Kong) in tag team action.

On the undercard, Heidi Lovelace faced fellow Ohio Valley Wrestling regular Sojo Bolt (Josette Bynum), Nikki Roxx took on Niya, Santana Garrett wrestled Sassy Stephie, and Marti Belle tangled with Leva Bates. All of the matches are after the jump, so click away and enjoy the five matches in their entirety. It’s a great opportunity to see Made In Sin, as the only chances to see Allysin and Taylor as a team so far have been on SHINE – which you have to pay to see – or at SHIMMER, which have not been released on DVD yet. Their schtick is a riot, so stick your pinkies up and get on board. (more…)

In Video: Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling

We've got the full Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling show for youAs we said at the time, Pro Wrestling Syndicate‘s Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling did not enjoy an easy birth. However, with its third show announced for February 9 in Metuchen, NJ, it seems to be finding its feet – and is headlined with Amazing Kong taking on Amy Lee, as well as the tournament semi finals.

The first show saw the first round matches take place on the 8 match card, with Christina Von Eerie meeting Cherry Bomb in the main event. Also on the show, RQW European Women’s Champion Queen Maya made her US debut against Sumie Sakai, and Annie Social fought Alexxis Nevaeh.

The card was meant to be broadcast on iPPV, but PWS decided to dump that idea when it decided that it wasn’t happy with the quality of the stream. However, the show from October 11 in Rahway, NJ was recorded – and now it has been edited and posted online for everyone to see ahead of February 9. If you want spoilers, the results are right here, but if you want to watch the matches without knowing the results, click the jump and enjoy. (more…)

SHINE 5 results – the return of Amazing Kong (now updated with thoughts)

SHINE Wrestling headlines its SHINE 5 show with the worldwide return of the former Kharma in her first match since January, with Amazing Kong teaming up with Jazz as Rhythm and Bruise to take on the tandem of Rain and Mercedes Martinez.

It’s the main event of a pretty stacked card in Ybor City, FL, with another of the mouth-watering outings being Jessicka Havok facing Nikki Roxx in a rematch of the Women Superstars Uncensored contest which helped to put Havok on the path to the top, while Kimberly looks to end her run of losses by teaming with Leva Bates against Made In SinAllysin Kay and Taylor Made – video of which you can see in this month’s SHINE Scouting Report.

We’ll be bringing you results as they happen, but why not buy the show for yourself, watch live and leave a comment with what you think about the show…? (more…)

Shine Wrestling 5: Scouting Report

With no show scheduled for December, and Shine 6 already confirmed for January, Shine signs off on 2012 with what appears to be a pretty stacked card topped with an outstanding return, as Amazing Kong returns to the wrestling ring for the first time since the Royal Rumble in January. Kong teams with Jazz in a tag main event vs Mercedes Martinez & Rain. Also on the show, an increasingly desperate Kimberly turns to Leva Bates to help her 0-4 record, and Jessicka Havok & Nikki Roxx renew an old WSU rivalry. Apart from Kong, Shine 5 also brings debuts for 5 other stars, including another former WWE star…

Ivelisse Velez
Big debut for former Chicago area indy star Juliet The Huntress, and more recently Sofia Cortez on WWE’s NXT brand … Competed in last year’s WWE Tough Enough under her given name and impressed with her determination before being eliminated on week 6 due to injury … Signed a developmental deal anyway and went on to become one of FCW/NXT’s most promising Divas, often teaming with Paige … Was released from her WWE deal in August 2012 to many people’s surprise … Has had a dark match tryout with TNA last month, losing to Tara … SHINE 5 will be her first match since the WWE release.

Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling results

Thursday seems to be a peculiar day to launch a new promotion, but that is what happened this week when Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling made its debut in Rahway, NJ. Promising a tournament to crown its first champion, sixteen women would be paired down to 8 on the first show, with the next rounds taking place on subsequent shows. However, the birth of Pro Wrestling Syndicate‘s all-women offshoot division has been anything but a smooth one – in fact, this one could be described as breached…

Firstly, there is the abbreviation of the promotion’s name, which put off some wrestlers. Angelina Love was approached to appear on the show, but declined due to the acronym being BLOW. Others – both wrestlers and fans – have been critical of the overly smutty nature of the name, though as Annie Social discussed with us earlier this week, it was thought up as a tongue in cheek, less serious approach to wrestling – and as PWS themselves have pointed out, nobody complains about a promotion on TV with the initials TNA.
