It’s an intergender kind of day at Women Superstars Uncensored today, who run their annual intergender tag team tournament (renamed this year to Queen and King of the Ring rather than the other way around) alongside Combat Zone Wrestling as part of a double header – and after eschewing iPPV for the first couple of shows under the new management, this is the first new era WSU show available live worldwide, through RFVideo.
On top of the eight team tournament, we have non tourney action featuring members of the Midwest Militia – both in non-title action – with Tag Champs Allysin Kay & Sassy Stephie facing Spirit Champion Marti Belle and Lexxus, and reigning WSU World Champion Jessicka Havok taking on “The Callihan Death Machine” Sami Callihan. Havok was apparently given carte blanche to pick her opponent for the match, following the withdrawal of LuFisto – who is currently out with injury. If you haven’t had a chance to listen, LuFisto addresses her current situation exclusively with us on the Women of Wrestling Podcast, and issued a promo directed at Jessicka Havok this week, which you can view on YouTube. You can still order the show at CZWIPPV.com, but we’ll have live results after the cut. (more…)

Women Superstars Uncensored was presented with a problem in its preparation for May 11′s Queen and King of the Ring iPPV. Its title match between WSU Champion Jessicka Havok and LuFisto – which came about after Havok defeated Athena and LuFisto beat Mercedes Martinez at An Ultraviolent Affair on February 9 – had to be scrapped due to the Super Hardcore Anime requiring surgery for a fractured kneecap, suffered during the SHIMMER Volume 53 iPPV on April 6.
With most of the roster tied up in the mixed tag team tournament, the promotion decided to get creative with an opponent for Havok, so WSU released a video with the titleholder throwing down a challenge based on what happened at the Combat Zone Wrestling show on the evening following An Ultraviolent Affair, and she wanted to take on LuFisto’s opponent in the mixed tag team match which took place.
Havok and Sami Callihan had an exchange or two in the match, and that wasn’t forgotten by the WSU Champion. In the video released last week, Havok lamented WSU for not finding her a challenger, then got proactive by calling out CZW’s Best of the Best XI tournament winner, though it would be six days of tentative waiting before the challenge was accepted, meaning that next Saturday in Voorhees, NJ, Jessicka Havok will take on Sami Callihan in a non-title, interpromotional, intergender affair. Women Superstars Uncensored returns today with their first show since October’s “Full Steam Ahead” with their debut in a new area, as part of a CZW double header in Voorhees, NJ. Unfortunately, due to the major snowstorms in the North East, the show appears to have been decimated due to talent being unable to get to the venue, resulting in a hastily re-jigged show. Weather related issues have stopped the WSU Tag Team Champions Allysin Kay & Sassy Stephie making the show, along with Marti Belle, Tina San Antonio, Lexxus & Nikki Addams. It’s not the first time a WSU card has been weather-afflicted, as last year’s joint show with PWS in New Jersey was also heavily affected.
However, the show must go on – and with the main event of Jessicka Havok defending her WSU Title against Athena still intact, as well as the potentially show-stealing semi main of Mercedes Martinez vs LuFisto in a Falls Count Anywhere match, there’s still a lot of potential in this show. Click through after the page break for coverage. (more…)

As we said at the time, Pro Wrestling Syndicate‘s Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling did not enjoy an easy birth. However, with its third show announced for February 9 in Metuchen, NJ, it seems to be finding its feet – and is headlined with Amazing Kong taking on Amy Lee, as well as the tournament semi finals.
The first show saw the first round matches take place on the 8 match card, with Christina Von Eerie meeting Cherry Bomb in the main event. Also on the show, RQW European Women’s Champion Queen Maya made her US debut against Sumie Sakai, and Annie Social fought Alexxis Nevaeh.
The card was meant to be broadcast on iPPV, but PWS decided to dump that idea when it decided that it wasn’t happy with the quality of the stream. However, the show from October 11 in Rahway, NJ was recorded – and now it has been edited and posted online for everyone to see ahead of February 9. If you want spoilers, the results are right here, but if you want to watch the matches without knowing the results, click the jump and enjoy. (more…)

“SOOO who’s ready for EVEN MORE changes to Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling ? Well heck it wouldn’t be a 24 hour day without some now would it!
“Stay tuned as we’re sure to serve up even more random stuff from the wacky world of Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling in the morning. Perhaps we should start doing contests like Guess The Next Girl To Drop Off ? Gotta love it.
“PS – not one single change to the loaded PWS lineup on Friday.”
That was one of the posts which Pro Wrestling Syndicate posted on its official Facebook page last week ahead of the debut Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling show on Thursday. As it happened, the show managed to fulfil its promise of presenting 8 opening round matches for its Sweet Sixteen tournament, though the lineup was a million miles away from the card which it originally posted. Reports from the show say it was a lot of fun, so it appears the fans went home from the Rahway Recreation Center in New Jersey happy, and by the sounds of the post above, the promoters of PWS breathed a sigh of relief. The build up for it has been long, but it is finally here – Women Superstars Uncensored returns this evening with Full Steam Ahead, a stacked card designed to mark the new era of the promotion under the ownership of Beyond Wrestling. You can take a look at the card by clicking here, but there has already been three intergender matches featuring WSU’s titleholders as part of a mini-card ahead of the main show…
1. Marti Belle pinned Jaka following a Pedigree.
2. Allysin Kay & Sassy Stephie beat Sugar Dunkerton & Aaron Epic – Kay pinned Epic following a suplex variation.
3. Jessicka Havok defeated Mark Angel with an Air Raid Crash.

Thursday seems to be a peculiar day to launch a new promotion, but that is what happened this week when Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling made its debut in Rahway, NJ. Promising a tournament to crown its first champion, sixteen women would be paired down to 8 on the first show, with the next rounds taking place on subsequent shows. However, the birth of Pro Wrestling Syndicate‘s all-women offshoot division has been anything but a smooth one – in fact, this one could be described as breached…
Firstly, there is the abbreviation of the promotion’s name, which put off some wrestlers. Angelina Love was approached to appear on the show, but declined due to the acronym being BLOW. Others – both wrestlers and fans – have been critical of the overly smutty nature of the name, though as Annie Social discussed with us earlier this week, it was thought up as a tongue in cheek, less serious approach to wrestling – and as PWS themselves have pointed out, nobody complains about a promotion on TV with the initials TNA. It is a busy time on the east coast of the United States over the next week with two all-female wrestling shows taking place 60 miles apart within the span of three days. The first is the Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling iPPV on Thursday night, which generated a lot of buzz (admittedly mostly negative) for its acronym. Second is Women Superstars Uncensored, which returns after a four month absence under the umbrella of new owners Beyond Wrestling with a stacked card. Annie Social – who returns to Fight Like A Girl after being on 13 months ago – features in high-profile encounters on both cards, and discusses both shows during this interview.
Annie also talks about her opponent on Thursday, Alexxis Nevaeh, tag team partner Kimber Lee, why she is upset with WSU’s fans, and a jaw-dropping story where she survived a drive-by shooting. She also talks about that Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling abbreviation – and if you think about it, we’re all used to the shortening of Total Nonstop Action now…

Women Superstars Uncensored has been rearranging furniture since being taken over by Beyond Wrestling following the Uncensored Rumble V iPPV back in June.
At the time, we gave our initial impressions of the acquisition, and also spoke to new owner Drew Cordiero as part of episode 42 of the Women Of Wrestling Podcast – and left feeling impressed with the direction being taken, especially since we had issues in the past with small attendance numbers and poor production of the iPPVs. Next month, WSU returns to Deer Park, NY for its first card under the Beyond Wrestling umbrella as part of three events over the span of one day – with one of those being an interpromotional show, followed by the comeback WSU event, entitled Full Steam Ahead. As we discussed in this week’s Roundup, it’s the end of an era for Women Superstars Uncensored, as the ownership changes hands tonight, with the new owners being announced during the iPPV being shown on Go Fight Live. The main event match pits WSU Champion Jessicka Havok defending the title against Mercedes Martinez in a Casket Match (an image of which you can see to your left), with other matches at the top of the card being Sassy Stephie v Brittney Savage in an Uncensored Rules match, Lexxus taking on Alicia, and Allysin Kay meeting newcomer Terra Calaway.
Elsewhere, the WSU and nCw: Femmes Fatales relationship kicks off with Kalamity defending the International Championship against Sweet Cherrie, and LuFisto wrestling Leva Bates. At the start of next month, the roles are reversed, as the Midwest Militia of Havok, Kay and Stephie travel to Montreal to face Courtney Rush and two undetermined partners.
The other big encounter tonight is the Uncensored Rumble itself, with the winner becoming the number one contender to the WSU title. Lee’s pick to win was Rain, but she has had to miss show due to illness, so with that prediction out of the window, we will be watching like everyone else to see who emerges as the victor.
We will be adding results as they happen here on the site, so click after the jump and keep refreshing to keep up with all the goings on.

The World Women’s Wrestling Championship has a longer history than both the SHIMMER and Women Superstars Uncensored Championships, and boasts a champion who is pushing two years with the belt – albeit with one of those years didn’t feature any defences as the parent company, New England Championship Wrestling, was inactive. Its current titleholder is Alexxis Nevaeh, AKA former WSU Tag Team Champion Lexxus, who won the title in the match that we bring to you today.
This is Alexxis’ third reign as WWW Champion. The first reign began after she won a four-way in August 2007, but ended at WWW’s 2nd Anniversary show the following March at the hands of Ariel, who turned heel in the process. To regain the belt, Nevaeh had to defeat 10 top WWW stars to get the shot, which she successfully did, and won back the title in March 2009.
He second run with the championship was cut short by Mistress Belmont, who took the WWW title for her first reign in March 2010, with the feud between the two escalating to the point that they had to settle their differences inside a steel cage in Quincy, MA on August 8 of that year. Women Superstars Uncensored return for their second shows of the month with the double DVD taping, taking in the annual J-Cup tournament. Tina San Antonio takes on former partner Marti Belle in an Uncensored Rules match, Jana pulling double duty by taking on WSU Queen of the Ring Jennifer Cruz, as well as teaming with Luscious Latasha to challenge Allysin Kay and Sassy Stephie for the Tag Team Championship, while fellow Midwest Militia member Jessicka Havok makes her first defence of the WSU Championship against former titleholder Mercedes Martinez.
Unfortunately, the show has been hit with a snag, as J-Cup participant Christina Von Eerie had flight issues, so she is out, and has been replaced by promising rookie Kimber Lee. The other participants are Alicia, Brittney Savage, Annie Social, Athena, Lexxus, Ezavel Suena & Nikki Syxx.

So, Jessicka Havok ascended to the top of Women Superstars Uncensored’s mountain on Saturday night by winning the promotion’s top championship from Mercedes Martinez at the 5th Anniversary Show, making her an undefeated Champion and putting an end to Martinez’ reign four days shy of the three year mark. In a match that was a wild brawl of a war more than a technical affair, it was unconventional, but successful. The pair fought all over the building and took some crazy bumps along the way – the Fisherman Buster from the apron through the table to the concrete floor being the height of the lunacy. No doubt, Havok was given the best springboard that she could possibly get for the start of her reign, and Martinez pulled out everything to give her that launch.
The ending was somewhat of a head-scratcher, with both going through a table from the top rope but Havok managing to get the pin, but I imagine the idea is that it shows just how evenly matched the two are and a draped arm was the only thing that could separate them. However, having a slightly more decisive match-ending move may have sweetened things slightly – though at this point I’m splitting hairs on what was a great main event, and also an early contender for Match of the Year.
Many have described the 5th Anniversary show their best iPPV to date. Having seen most of them, it would be hard to disagree with that. When it came to aesthetics, things went well – most of the direction was good, the cameramen were in the right place for most of the stuff (barring a couple of incidents, which I’ll get to) and the graphics and editing went well. As a TV product, it was the sharpest yet. And there was a boob toss. Nothing more to be said about it really, but I felt it just HAD to be mentioned. (more…)

Highlights
• Serena Deeb‘s heel character is just superb. She’s an old-school rulebreaker, using cheap tactics, mouthing off to the fans and getting more and more annoyed as the match with Mercedes Martinez continues. At one point, she even yelled at her own hand after an attempt at an overhand chop didn’t elicit the loud slap that she had hoped for. Brilliant.
• The ending of Alicia v Jazz was abrupt, but so hard hitting that you never questioned the credibility of the ending. A straight knockout from a Yakuza Kick saw the veteran Jazz soundly defeated. She got on the mic after the match, made no excuses, said the better wrestler won and put over the fans.
• You can see how 2011 was Jessicka Havok‘s year in WSU. She is featured three times on the DVD, more than anyone else – and that includes WSU Champion Martinez, who is only featured once.
• Cindy Rogers went for it in her final match against Allison Danger, and it showed.
• Serena Deeb and Annie Social beat the piss out of each other. It took a while to get going, but when it did, goodness gracious.

Women Superstars Uncensored‘s first matches of the year as part of a joint show with National Wrestling Superstars in Stirling, NJ fell victim to the harsh weather that the north east of the US is dealing with at the moment. Sub-zero temperatures, snowy conditions and icy roads meant that Luscious Latasha, Amber, Lexxus and Molly Holly didn’t make it, while Jillian Hall (who was meant to be wrestling Traci Brooks in the main event with Molly refereeing) was stranded in Atlanta, GA. That meant a big rewrite of the WSU matches…
The scheduled 10 woman tag team match became an 8 woman affair instead, with Jennifer Cruz (who was originally pitted to wrestle Mercedes Martinez before the match was cancelled due to the WSU Champion’s concussion) replacing Amber and Lexxus, while the other team was one down because of Latasha’s absence. Meanwhile, the main event was changed to a 6-woman tag with the Midwest Militia of Jessicka Havok, Sassy Stephie and Allysin Kay, as well as Brittney Savage and Alicia pulling double duty.
Despite the rewrite, our correspondent David Muscarella reports that the women’s matches outshone the men’s contests, so that is still a success for WSU. Click after the jump to see the results. (more…)

When I looked at the card for the Bull Nakano EMPRESS retirement show, I was surprised at what I saw. Not the card itself, which looked very appealing, but the order in which the matches would take place. Unlike American shows which have a card, but barring the main event, you probably won’t know the exact order of the matches. When it comes to Japan, the match listing is usually the order in which those contests would take place. Surprisingly, the singles match featuring veterans and legends Ayako Hamada and Aja Kong would OPEN the show, while the final match on the card would be between two women with comparatively little experience – one had just three years under her belt, while the other had debuted just 15 months ago.
Having said that, the match between Ice Ribbon’s ICEx60 and International Ribbon Tag Team Champion Hikaru Shida and Wonder Of Stardom and one half of the Goddesses Of Stardom Yuzuki Aikawa put forth a hell of a contest, and proved that they were worthy of headlining the card. Even more surprisingly, 28-year old Aikawa won the match in front of 3000 fans at the Tokyo Dome City Hall – though that could be indicative of the potential influence that she could have on joshi in the future…
Despite being trained in taekwondo for ten years, Aikawa made her living before becoming a wrestler as a bikini model and a singer in a girl group, selling picture books, DVDs and CDs, mostly down to her beauty and curvy figure. However, she packed it all in just over two years ago to make the transition to becoming a professional wrestler – funny, in the western world, it usually works the other way around. A year after making the switch, she debuted on October 31, 2010 as part of her own card which she produced, taking on Nanae Takahashi. You would imagine that considering that it was her own card, it was her first match and that she is a pretty woman, she would be eased into the situation by a veteran of the business.
No such luck. Takahashi defeated her, and as part of the deal, beat the shit out of her. (more…)

It’s fair to say that Ringbelles HQ has had a bit of a dark cloud of depression hanging over it recently, as Lee and I have often found ourselves discussing how terrible it is that a number of our favourite wrestlers are out – in some cases, possibly permanently – with injuries. Daizee Haze has already hung up her tights, LuFisto & Mercedes Martinez have been struggling and resting up with serious injuries (back and concussion respectively – the latter of which has taken Martinez out of WSU’s event next weekend in New Jersey) and more serious still, Serena Deeb has been told she should no longer wrestle due to a severe concussion while Madison Eagles admits her knee injury could be career threatening. It’s amazing how much these women give of themselves to the service of pro-wrestling – often in front of small (albeit appreciative) crowds. Call it passion, or call it what you will, they continue to push themselves hard (and probably harder than they should) in order to entertain – and as we’re seeing quite clearly, with that comes a price. Going into the upcoming “Spring Season” of shows from the major North American indy wrestling companies, it’s hard to imagine a SHIMMER taping without Madison Eagles; or what about Serena Deeb, who is still scheduled to debut for NCW Femmes Fatales on March 10th in Montreal? What if Mercedes Martinez can’t completely shake her concussion issues by March? Main events in SHIMMER, Femmes Fatales and crucially WSU may all have to be re-written. In my head, it all felt very “glass half empty”.
Happily though, a chat with a friend in the business a little while ago persuaded me to turn the frown upside down. “Well,” she said (when contemplating the worst case scenario that Deeb, Eagles and others may be facing the end of their careers) “That gives plenty of opportunity for other girls to move up and take those spots”. I stopped and thought for a moment, and answered in the affirmative. I wasn’t yet 100% convinced, but the more I thought about it, the more I figured that there was a definite ring of truth to that statement. Don’t get me wrong, I am definitely *not* ready to contemplate life without Eagles and Deeb, and I’d love nothing better than to have them back – but if they don’t return (or even just miss an extended length of time as they overcome their issues), it’s worth considering who actually is likely to benefit, and why we can actually look forward to 2012 as a year of opportunity as much as anything else. Two weeks ago, we reported about Squared Circle Wrestling setting up a new tournament called Girls Grand Prix, to be held in Binghamton, NY on February 24. At the time, the names which had been announced were Rachel Summerlyn, Sara Del Rey, Portia Perez and Serena Deeb (should she be fit to wrestle following her concussion). Today, 2CW has announced the other four participants in the tourney, as well as the opening round matches.
Joining the announced quartet will be former World Women’s Wrestling Champions Nikki Roxx and Alexxis Nevaeh (AKA Lexxus in Women Superstars Uncensored), as well as Canadians (and potential smash hits for 2012) Cherry Bomb and Courtney Rush. Having the experience and East Coast history of Roxx and Navaeh as well as the youth and added international flavour of Rush and Cherry Bomb (to go with fellow Canuck Perez) makes for an interesting dynamic. It could have been the same local faces for the most part, but those additions mean that it has a unique edge to it all. (more…)

Twenty four hours removed from Women Superstars Uncensored‘s iPPV Breaking Barriers II and this writer is still at a loss for words. The show had it’s ups and downs as any show will, but when the ending of the War Games main event went down, it had me in shock and disbelief. The ending completely overshadowed the War Games match itself as well as the rest of the show. I’m going to attempt to write up a coherent report and put my thoughts and opinions into some sort of structure.
The first match was the Boston Shore (Amber and Lexxus) defending the WSU Tag Team Championships against the reunited International Home Wrecking Crew of Rain and Jetta. Back at WSU’s last DVD tapings in August, it was originally announced that Serena Deeb would be Rain’s partner since both women had had problems with the Shore. However, Serena pulled out of the match (which led to her being announced as Melina‘s opponent for Breaking Barriers II), leaving Rain without a partner. Not for long though – in a surprise twist, Rain brought Jetta out of retirement to take on the Shore. (more…)

You know there are times when you buy a DVD and you put it in your collection, but don’t watch it, thinking you’ll get round to it at some point when you get the chance? The problem is, you buy more DVDs, watch them and the one you planned to watch in the very near future just gets forgotten about, until you see it one day and feel so guilty that you’ve neglected it for so long?
That’s the story with me and World Women’s Wrestling‘s Champion v Champion DVD. I bought it three years ago and always meant to get round to it, but the backlog of shows builds up and even though I had the best intentions, I never watched it. Until yesterday, when I finally slotted the disc into the player and settled down to see what I had been missing.
World Women’s Wrestling came about as an all-female offshoot from Massachusetts-based New England Championship Wrestling, a promotion which has been about since 2000, and has seen wrestlers such as John Cena and Kofi Kingston wrestle there early in their careers. It has also boasted an impressive women’s division back when many independent promotions presented solitary matches with a rather small roster – with IWA: Mid South being an obvious exception. On the strength of their hard work, WWW was formed in 2006, a few months after NECW created a Women’s Championship, which was first held by Mercedes Martinez.
Meanwhile, over in Rhode Island, PWF Northeast also had its own Women’s Champion, and both promotions agreed to co-recognise the titles, and eventually amalgamate them. When the first WWW show was held in March 2006, both titleholders were babyfaces – Nikki Roxx held the NECW Women’s belt, while Ariel was the PWF Mayhem Women’s Champion – though things would change before this title for title showdown… (more…)

Most of you reading this will already know the main details about Gail Kim and Melina’s departures from WWE – Melina was released on Thursday after a number of controversial incidents, while Kim “quit” on last Monday after eliminating herself from Raw’s battle royal. The situation since then is that both are still somewhat tied to the company, be it by choice or circumstance.
Despite walking out of WWE last week, Gail Kim is still yet to have been officially released. Instead, she’s breaching her contract – which may have as little as a month or two left on it – in the hope that the deal will be terminated and she will be free to do whatever she wants with her life. The two most obvious possibilities to this strategy were that either Kim would get what she wanted – which was unlikely, as why would they roll over for someone who has behaved unprofessionally in just walking out of the door – or that WWE would sue her for breaching her contract. However, they decided to choose option three – keep her on the payroll. (more…)

2012 – Opportunity Knocks
