Austin Aries “fined” over Christy Hemme situation

Christy Hemme Austin AriesThe top story in Tuesday’s Roundup was the situation which occurred on last Thursday’s TNA Impact Wrestling show between Austin Aries and Christy Hemme – a situation that TNA (publicly, at least) was slow to react to. However, TMZ reported that Aries has indeed been fined an undisclosed sum by the promotion for putting his crotch in Hemme’s face after she fluffed he and Bobby Roode‘s introduction. It also says that Austin personally apologised to Christy, who was apparently “satisfied” with the apology.

Officially, that’s the end of the matter, but it still seems strange that Hemme went onto Twitter to call the situation “unacceptable” following the show – though she later deleted the tweet – though TNA says it immediately dealt with it. In addition, it seems strange that Spike TV was the first to make a public statement about it, calling it “sexual harassment” and saying the network has a zero tolerance policy for such occurrences. While Aries probably did not mean to commit an act which was deemed as sexual harassment – as it is the victim that gets to decide if it was over the line and the employers to agree or disagree with the accusation – TNA could be seen to be guilty for dragging its heels. Ringbelles Retro: Kacee Carlisle – then and now

Kacee CarlisleKacee Carlisle – who is one hell of a great promo, by the way – defends her NWA World Women’s Championship on Friday evening against former Anarchy Championship Wrestling American Joshi Champion Barbi Hayden as part of NWA Houston‘s Shut Up And Wrestle show in Cypress, TX.

More than 200 days into her first run with the title, the 33-year old from Sturgis, SD has been part of the wrestling business for all of her adult life. Debuting as a manager in 1998, she accompanied Shorty Smalls sporadically for the first few years before getting more involved in 2003, and eventually transitioning to becoming a wrestler in 2005. Her first in-ring contest is the match we have for you for today’s Retro.

Looking much different to how she appears in the photo to your right, Carlisle took on SHIMMER Original Krissy Vaine in her first encounter on July 30, 2005 on a show in Olney, VA. Watch it after the jump. Read the rest of this page »

Bellatrix 6 card – plenty of first-time matches

Bellatrix 6 Liberty Shanna

Until today, the only match which we knew was going to be taking place at Bellatrix 6 on June 23 was Rhia O’Reilly defending the British Championship against Erin Angel – a match which is likely to deliver, especially since they have tangled twice in the past month with each claiming a victory over the other. However, the promotion has now revealed what its big roster featuring a lot of debuting women will be up to on the show, and there are quite a few first-time encounters on the card… Read the rest of this page »

Ringbelles Roundup (14 May 2013) – Christy Hemme, WSU updates, news & more

Christy Hemme Austin Aries 2Anyone who watched TNA Impact Wrestling last week saw an unnecessarily uncomfortable moment for one of the roster.

Ring announcer Christy Hemme made a mistake on the live broadcast during the entrance for Austin Aries and Bobby Roode, incorrectly introducing them as Kazarian and Christopher Daniels’ team of Bad Influence. A silly mistake, but it’s live TV and mistakes sometimes happen. Upset, Aries got into the ring, backed Hemme into a corner and forced her to give the correct introductions, which she did, under some duress. As she was finishing off her correction, Aries climbed onto the ropes, essentially placing his crotch less than six inches from her face – something which Hemme laughed off.

However, things clearly weren’t so funny for Christy.

When asked about the incident on Twitter, Hemme replied with the solitary word of “unacceptable”, which made it clear that her reaction to Aries actions were not something that she found amusing, but had brushed it off to be a professional and get on with her job. Aries responded on his Twitter on Saturday with a load of penis and testicle puns, saying “Pretty nuts, some of the junk people get the balls to say over the net, knowing they couldn’t to your face…Eh, anyway, time to sack out.” Read the rest of this page »

Fight Like A Girl/Bird/Lass: Nikki Storm

Nikki Storm Youji Kawauchi

Fresh off a trip to Japan and returning back to the UK with a lot of prospects over the next few months, it seemed like a good time to talk to Nikki Storm, who successfully defended the Pro Wrestling: EVE Championship while wrestling in JWP.

During this 25-minute interview, Nikki talks about her win-loss record in Japan, setting foot in Korakuen Hall for the first time, falling asleep backstage and having an embarrassing wake-up call, getting on the wrong side of the JWP Dojo cat, Mink, as well as defending the EVE title against Hanako Nakamori and spending some down time recording a lot of promo videos for YouTube. She also discusses the rise in European women’s wrestlers – a topic we’ve been covering over the last week – facing Rhia O’Reilly at the next EVE show in two weeks (as well as how it’s a throwback to her EVE debut), debuting at Bellatrix next month, and the rise of Scottish talent, including ICW: Fierce Females.

My Name Is… Lady Lory

Lady Lory

She’s the only female wrestler who lives in Belgium, she was accused by fans of being on drugs and there is precious little about who she is on the Internet – so we were happy when Germany’s Lady Lory approached us to request some time on My Name Is.

As part of this quarter-hour interview, we discuss how she doesn’t consider the first five years of her career as official, why she got those accusations about drugs and whether they affected her, thoughts on the European women’s wrestling scene, which fans she enjoys the most, how much of the character is really her, which wrestler she dreams of stepping in the ring with, and Roxette.

Bombshell Ladies Of Wrestling #4 results – La Rosa Negra wins BLOW Title, Serena Deeb is awesome

BLOW posterBombshell Ladies Of Wrestling are back for another iPPV as part of a weekend of action presented by parent company Pro Wrestling Syndicate. Headlining the show is Missy Sampson defending the BLOW Championship which she won at February’s show, though it’s not against originally announced opponent Alexa Thatcher, who was due to make her return at the event after a prolonged absence.

PWS revealed that she had pulled out of the card a couple of weeks ago, and was replaced with Mickie Knuckles, who lost in the first round of Women Superstars Uncensored‘s Queen and King of the Ring earlier today.

Also take place on the card, Amy Lee and Amazing Kong face off again – this time in a First Blood Match – as well as Serena Deeb taking on Shelly Martinez, and Santana Garrett against La Rosa Negra.

You can order the event from highspots.tv – which is $10, or free if you have a subscription to the service – so there’s still time to throw down some money and watch. Alternatively, we’re updating you with results as they happen, so click after the jump and keep hitting refresh… Read the rest of this page »

WSU iPPV results – Athena & AR Fox crowned Queen & King of the Ring; Havok/Callihan have wild brawl

18 Athena WSUIt’s an intergender kind of day at Women Superstars Uncensored today, who run their annual intergender tag team tournament (renamed this year to Queen and King of the Ring rather than the other way around) alongside Combat Zone Wrestling as part of a double header – and after eschewing iPPV for the first couple of shows under the new management, this is the first new era WSU show available live worldwide, through RFVideo.

On top of the eight team tournament, we have non tourney action featuring members of the Midwest Militia – both in non-title action – with Tag Champs Allysin Kay & Sassy Stephie facing Spirit Champion Marti Belle and Lexxus, and reigning WSU World Champion Jessicka Havok taking on “The Callihan Death Machine” Sami Callihan. Havok was apparently given carte blanche to pick her opponent for the match, following the withdrawal of LuFisto – who is currently out with injury. If you haven’t had a chance to listen, LuFisto addresses her current situation exclusively with us on the Women of Wrestling Podcast, and issued a promo directed at Jessicka Havok this week, which you can view on YouTube. You can still order the show at CZWIPPV.com, but we’ll have live results after the cut. Read the rest of this page »

Bellatrix 6 roster revealed, many new additions

Bellatrix 6 rosterIt’s been a pretty Euro-centric sort of week here at Ringbelles, so we may as well continue in that ethos…

The roster for the Bellatrix 6 iPPV on June 23 has been revealed, with a lot of new names featuring in the lineup. Nine European nations are represented on the show, with women from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Norway, Finland, France, Italy, Germany and Portgual being represented. Representing England are regulars Saraya Knight, rising star Penelope, RQW European Women’s Champion Liberty, rookie Chanel, Destiny, Skarlett, Erin Angel and Violet O’Hara. Other roster members returning are Italian Queen Maya, Northern Ireland’s Rhia O’Reilly and Norway’s Miss Mina, as well as Finn Aurora Flame and France’s X-Cute Sweet, who have both been absent since Bellatrix 2 11 months ago.

There is also an influx of Scottish talent heading to Norwich. Nikki Storm, Carmel Jacob, Bete Noire and Kay Lee Ray all make their debuts, while Viper makes her first appearance in the promotion since teaming with Destiny at WAWW The Return in November 2011. Rounding off the roster are Germany’s Alpha Female and Portugal’s Perfect Athlete Shanna making their first Bellatrix appearances, making it a roster of 20 women participating.
