The Big News

First off, sorry about the shortness of the Roundup this week (and in advance for next week). We’re in Las Vegas for fun and giggles, but we’ll still be covering what happens at Ring Of Honor and WrestleMania.

SHIMMER: Women Athletes volume 37 may be the best show the promotion has ever put on. Featuring a tag team title change, the debut of the Knight Dynasty (which caused such a stir that Britani and Saraya were spit on at one point by supposedly “smart” fans), a great technical contest between Daizee Haze and Serena Deeb and a great title match between Mercedes Martinez, this is one DVD that you HAVE to buy when it is released.

You can read results and reaction from both days here and here, so there’s no need to go into great depth, but a few words on Britani and Saraya…

The heat this mother and daughter generated was incredible. So much so, that they have been asked to appear at CWF Mid-Atlantic (though the promoters have told us they will have to bring in extra police for their appearance), and have an inbox utterly stacked with requests from promoters looking to book them based on their work this weekend. Coupled with the return after 4 years of Rebecca Knox, this is a stable that has seen heat which is unrivalled in the promotion. Forget the Minnesota Home Wrestling Crew – this is the ultimate heel tag team in SHIMMER.

On the flip side, the most popular team in the promotion’s history was 3S – the tandem of Hiroyo Matsumoto and Misaki Ohata – who won the tag team belts on volume 37, and then lost them on volume 40 in a match that deflated the crowd so much. In the space of to days, 3S has become woven into my heart, and I’m now going to seek out as much of their stuff as possible.

Coming up this week, we’ll bring you quick interviews with LuFisto and Courtney Rush from the afterparty, as well as video of heated rivals sharing a beverage.

WWE shot a big angle for the WrestleMania 6 person mixed tag team match with John Morrison, Snooki and Trish Stratus against Dolph Ziggler and LayCool.

It was shot at a bar in New Jersey, and took many hours, though reasons for this vary. claims it was down to Snooki not coming out of her dressing room for three hours, delaying the rest of the crew, while says the hold-up was because the production crew showed up late and took ages setting up lights and cameras. Regardless of which one – if either – is true, both report that Snooki says that she would like to be a WWE Diva in the future. If she keeps her nose clean and gets trained, there’s no reason why it couldn’t happen – after all, “Snooki” is already Nicole Polizzi’s character, and is probably more well known than any WWE Diva out there at the moment.

Paul in NC says:

The Knights at CWF would be amazing! On the drive back from Shimmer, I asked my friend “can you imagine how the crowd at CWF would react to the Knights?” If they wrestle in Burlington, I will definitely be there. Those extra police should bring their riot shields!
